上墩村位于曹远镇中部，临近九龙溪，离镇政府约8公里，海拔170米。村名的由来与地形有关：村庄以坑沟为界，又居于上方。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

据称村庄创建于唐朝开元年间。明清时期隶属永安县三十一都，民国时期划入大湖区，曾一度归曹远乡管辖。1950年归安砂区曹远乡，1951年改属安砂区上墩乡，1958年归大湖公社，1961年转入曹远公社，1969年复归曹远公社。1984年又属曹远乡，1992年改属曹远镇，同年设立村民委员会。[1]
