余上村在开善乡东北边，离乡政府约1.5公里。因它位于「儒坊」的上面，而方言里「儒」与「余」读音相近，于是称作余上。[1]
村中留有江氏祖屋这类宋末明初的老建筑。据百度百科，2021年以来，本村已修缮六栋历史建筑。[4]
历史沿革[edit]
宋元时期，此村归崇礼乡高平里的开善上保管辖。民国初年属南乡。1931年，苏维埃政权设大均区，本村随之隶属该区；1934年6月改属三区，1940年归开永乡。[2]
解放后，1950年底至1951年底间设有余上乡政府，属三区管辖。1956年又并入余坊乡，1958年另立生产大队。1959年划归儒坊公社，1984年9月转为村民委员会，仍在开善乡之内。[2]
经济[edit]
博雅地名网称，本村是全乡烟叶种植历史最早的行政村之一，林权改革后重新承包了竹山。[3]
名胜古迹[edit]
余上遗址属夏商周时期的古遗址，位于余上自然村。[5]
荣誉[edit]
2024年7月，余上村被命名为「2023年度三明市达标“六无”村（社区）」，同年又被确定为「2021-2023年三明市达标“六无”村（社区）」。[1]
