马嘶村位于余坊乡南部，距乡政府约4公里，属革命老区村。[1]
村名的来历，据博雅地名网所载传说：古时将乐与泰宁划定县界，将乐县官骑马赶路，途经此村时村中犬吠，马昂首嘶鸣，县官便下马改乘轿子，此地因而得名。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
清代此地原叫吴源，归张源都。苏维埃时期，1931年至1934年，此处建有马嘶乡苏维埃政府。1935年起此地为马西坑保，附属隆兴联保；1939年并入隆兴乡，1945年11月再改称马西坑。[2]
1950年，村子被认定为「革命老区村」。1951年11月，此地设马嘶乡，属第五区。其后几经改隶，至1958年才归入红旗公社，1959年又改隶万安公社。1961年，村中成立马嘶大队，改隶余坊公社；1966年一度更名红旗大队，1968年恢复原名。1984年9月，大队撤销，马嘶村民委员会成立，归余坊乡管辖。[2]
文化[edit]
2024年7月，村子被命名为「2023年度三明市达标六无村（社区）」，同月被确定为「2021-2023年三明市达标六无村（社区）」。[1]
