桃坑村位于石牌镇东北角。村子的东面与均溪镇为邻，南面是桃山村，西面连着鳌江村，北面与太华镇魁城村接壤。[1]

村子是大田乐氏的发源地，古代石阶官道保存完好。[2]

地名由来[edit]

早年此地处于坑垅之中，坑中有一条溪，溪名桃溪，村名也随之称为桃溪。1970年因与他处同名改称后坑；地名普查时又与同名的村子重复，后在1979年改名，由桃溪、后坑两名各取一字而成“桃坑”。[1]

地理环境[edit]

村子最高海拔1332米，最低海拔463米，四周青山环绕。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

此地在明清时期属坊都。民国时期归大田第一区，解放初改隶均溪镇。1950年它成为武陵区小湖乡的桃溪村，1958年并入小湖公社桃山大队，1970年改属红湖公社后坑大队。[1]

1984年乡制恢复后此村列入石牌乡；1997年改制设镇，村委会改称石牌镇桃坑村村民委员会。[1]

著名人物[edit]

东北大学教授乐启炽是桃坑村人，2023年度获国家科学技术进步奖二等奖。[3]

荣誉[edit]

2024年7月，本村被命名为「2023年度三明市达标“六无”村（社区）」，同月被确定为「2021-2023年三明市达标“六无”村（社区）」。[1]
