钟山村是钟山镇政府的驻地所在村，也是镇内政治、经济与文化活动的中心。[1]

村名的来历与地形有关：村境内有一座山，形状像铜钟，山脚的溪流冲击时发出如钟的响声，因而得名。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

唐至宋初，此地隶属仙游来苏里；北宋太平兴国四年（979年）起改属兴化县来苏里，直到明正统十二年（1447年）。[1]

明正统十三年（1448年）以后划入仙游县兴泰里。民国年间，此地先属四区的鲤湖区，后隶属鲤湖乡。新中国成立后经历数次区划调整，1956年归麦斜区，1958年纳入钟山公社。[1]

钟山村民委员会设立于1984年底，当时仍属钟山乡建制；到1992年，钟山由乡改为镇，村也随之归入镇辖。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

智袭三角埕自卫队旧址位于村内的鹅兜自然村。1949年5月，鲤湖游击队在此开展策反与劝降工作，促使驻地的自卫队员放下武器，该旧址属革命旧址。[1]
