下社村隶属福建省莆田市仙游县枫亭镇，位于镇西部，枫园公路北侧，距镇政府6公里，东面与东宅村毗邻。[1]

村中谢姓人家居多，「谢」与「社」方言同音，故村名下社。[3]

历史沿革[edit]

新中国成立前，此地归枫亭镇辖；1950年划入第三区，1956年改属枫亭区，1958年归枫亭公社。1984年，村民委员会成立，隶枫亭乡。[2]

文化[edit]

下社村是革命老区基点村。1993年，村里被评为莆田市计划生育工作先进单位。[1]

村中有宋代古建筑林氏宗祠，村内另有一座基督教教堂。[1]
