名称由来[edit]
「海山」一名由山边、平海楼两处自然村的村名各取一字拼合而成。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
宋元时此地隶感德乡，明清隶南匿里。民国初期归省府直接管辖，1934年至1936年间先后划归福清县与省辖特种区；1940年改属莆田县南日乡，1943年归海楼保管辖。[3]
新中国成立后，这里划入十三区海楼保，随后并入二十四区（南日）的海山乡。1957年称海山高级村，1958年为公社下的海山大队，1984年设海山村委会。1993年南日人民公社改为南日镇，2002年2月起归秀屿区管辖。2019年1月，区政府以批复设立海山社区居民委员会。[3]
村况[edit]
社区辖8个自然村，分设11个村民小组。博雅地名网记全社区有763户、3357人，未注年份。[2]
耕地（农地）1683亩，以甘薯为主，大小麦次之，间有大豆与花生。山林500亩，树种多为木麻黄、相思树与黑松。区内有小学、中学与医疗所，岛上公路横穿，有客车通行；海山水库可灌溉1000亩田地。[2]
