埭头镇是福建省莆田市秀屿区下辖的镇，位于秀屿区东部沿海的半岛突出部，三面临海，东濒兴化湾，南滨平海湾，西与东峤镇相接，与平海镇毗邻。镇人民政府设在埭新社区。1986年底由乡改为镇，2002年初起隶属秀屿区。镇境以丘陵为主，海岸线长，海产养殖、近海捕捞与石材加工是主要的生计，境内天云洞风景区是著名的游览地。[1][2][4]

历史沿革[edit]

地名由来与海边的开垦有关：宋代居民与海争地，筑埭造田，聚居点多以「埭」为名。此地是当时的居住中心，形成了第一大墟市，“第一”与“头名”意思相近，于是称作埭头。[2][3]

宋元时期，境内分属崇福乡的奉谷里和武盛里；明清时期改属六区，仍分奉谷里与武盛里。民国时期，辖地先后归平海区、七区、五区、笏石区管辖，并设埭头乡，后改为埭头镇。[2]

最早的基层机构是1956年6月成立的埭头区公所。此后先称埭头乡（1957年），继而为埭头人民公社（1958年），1984年由公社改为乡，1986年12月设镇。2002年2月，改属秀屿区。[1][2]

地理环境[edit]

镇域位于秀屿区东部沿海突出部，东北隔兴化湾与荔城区北高镇、涵江区相望。镇境以丘陵为主，最高峰为大蚶山主峰，海拔398.4米，海岸线长约25公里。镇境属南亚热带海洋性季风气候，年平均气温19.5℃。[1][3]

行政区域面积的说法并不一致：百度百科作105.54平方千米，维基百科作辖区陆地面积102平方公里，博雅地名网作约86平方公里，此处并列。[1][2][3]

人口民族[edit]

2019年末，全镇户籍人口为140376人。全镇下辖3个社区和20个行政村。[1][2]

经济[edit]

浅海滩涂盛产鲍鱼、海带等海洋生物，海产养殖与近海捕捞是传统的生计。境内花岗石储量丰富，据百度百科所载，总储量在1亿立方米以上，石材加工是镇里的主要工业之一。[1][2]

名胜古迹[edit]

天云洞位于大蚶山南麓的温李村境内，是大蚶山主峰的一部分，海拔398米，被列为莆仙四大祈梦胜地之一。洞区岩阵群立，山顶巨石间有「三十六碟」等积水凹槽，民间相传与“仙佛斗法”的故事有关。唐代罗隐曾到此题诗。清初陈恒山在此建恒山草堂，隐居读书。[5][1]

镇内现存多处古建筑。石城林氏民居位于石城村寨外自然村，建于清末，民国时重修，是爱国华侨林和义的旧居，为「莆田市第九批市级文物保护单位」，坐西朝东。[2]

中一堂位于英田社区的西埔自然村，为「莆田市市级文物保护单位」。合一宗祠也在石城村寨外，为二进合院式的宗祠，石木结构，悬山顶。[2]

水仙宫位于后温村的后温自然村，建于明代，清乾隆十九年（1754）重建，由前殿与大殿组成。村内的水仙宫为市级文物保护单位。[2][6]

文化[edit]

镇内的民俗与饮食以莆田地方特色为主，特产以紫菜、海带、鲍鱼、牡蛎为主，此外还有红毛菜与包心鱼丸，民俗有莆田铜雕技艺。[2]

镇的荣誉有：2014年7月被列为「全国重点镇」，2020年12月被福建省爱卫办命名为福建省卫生乡镇，2023年10月入选「福建省全域生态旅游小镇」名单。第十五届的莆田市文明村镇（社区）称号于2021年3月授予本镇。[2]
