石前村坐落在嵩山脚下，北距东庄镇政府约3公里，东邻马厂村，西连石尾村。村名取自两个自然村的字：石厝的“石”与前运的“前”。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
1949年，石前属五区（笏石区）石厝保与石厝乡。1952年改属二十区（下塘）石象乡，1957年归前运乡。1958年成为忠门公社石前大队，1960年划入前运公社，1965年改属东庄公社。[1]
1984年，石前改属东庄乡，成为石前村。1988年划入秀屿镇，2000年归东庄镇，2002年归秀屿区。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
嵩山寺位于村内，建于北宋大观元年（1107年），是莆田市文物保护单位。[2]
潮音寺位于村内的石厝自然村。这座寺庙的源头在明代，晚清时曾经重建，并于1941年得到修缮，是「莆田市第九批市级文物保护单位」。[3]
荣誉[edit]
2021年3月，石前村被确定为「莆田市第十五届市级文明村镇（社区）」。[1]
