锦山村坐落于礼泉半岛中部的丘陵上，北距秀屿港约5公里，疏港公路、莆秀公路和湄洲湾铁路支线经过村境。村名锦山于1983年改定。[1]

地名由来[edit]

1983年以前，此村称东山大队。因与莆田县黄石的东山重名，遂取“锦绣山河”之意，于1983年改名锦山。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1949年，锦山属五区（笏石区）栖梧保与栖梧乡。1952年后又分属栖梧乡与石码乡，1955年转归二十区东营乡。1958年，它成为忠门公社东营大队；1960年改称东山大队，隶属东庄公社。1965年复称东营大队，1971年又回到东山的名称。1983年，两个东山大队中的一个改名锦山大队。1984年，大队改为村，属东庄乡。[1]

文化[edit]

2023年，锦山村一处庭院入选福建省十个「美丽乡村庭院」典型案例。[2]

荣誉[edit]

2020年9月，锦山村入选阿里研究院公布的2020年淘宝村名单；2021年10月，又入选2021年淘宝村名单。2021年11月，福建省爱卫办作出命名，锦山村成为「2021年福建省卫生村」。2022年10月，村庄入选2022年淘宝村名单。2023年11月，村庄被认定为「2023年度莆田市中级版绿盈乡村」。[1]
