下垞村位于西天尾镇，村域处于九华山麓。村内有农民协会旧址、陈国桢烈士故居和闽中游击队驻地旧址等革命遗存。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
因境内有小山丘，每逢霞光普照，故名「下垞」。[1]
新中国成立后隶一区下垞乡，1954年划归十区，1957年组建下垞高级合作社，1958年10月设下垞大队。1961年转入莆田县西天尾公社为下垞大队，1968年改为下垞革命领导小组。1984年改为乡下的下垞村，1986年12月升为莆田县西天尾镇下的村，2002年起属荔城区西天尾镇，设下垞村委会。[1]
2019年12月，入选「第一批国家森林乡村」名单；2020年11月，被认定为「2020年度莆田市中级版绿盈乡村」；2021年11月，福建省爱卫办命名本村为「2021年福建省卫生村」；2024年7月，入选「2024年福建省金牌旅游村」名单；2024年11月，被认定为「2024年度福建省一村一品专业村」，主导产业为枇杷。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
下垞村农民协会成立旧址位于王西自然村。1926年11月，北伐的国民革命军东路军进入莆仙，其指挥部中的共产党员胡秉铎会见陈国柱，提议发动群众。[1]
陈国桢烈士故居位于王西自然村。陈国桢（1902—1949年）是陈国柱的孪生胞兄，早年在省立第四师范学校读书，「五四」运动期间参加了莆田的活动，1919年弃学南渡，在新加坡任教。[1]
闽中游击队驻地旧址位于头垅自然村，原址为苦竹寺，与陈国柱的活动有关。[1]
