北大村位于西天尾镇，村名取北郊、大沟两个自然村的首字组成。村内有北大顶墩桥，该桥明清时期两次重建。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

村名取自北郊、大沟二自然村的首字，合称「北大」。[1]

新中国成立初期隶一区北大乡，此后数年间依次归七区、十区管辖。1957年组建北大高级社，1958年并入涵江公社，1961年划入西天尾公社，1982年设西天尾乡，1984年改为乡下的北大村，1986年12月升为镇下的北大村，并设北大村委会。2002年起属荔城区西天尾镇。[1]

荣誉方面：2020年11月，被认定为「2020年度莆田市中级版绿盈乡村」；2021年10月，经南京大学空间规划研究中心与阿里研究院联合发布，入选「2021年淘宝村」名单；2022年10月，入选「2022年淘宝村」名单，同月被福建省农业农村厅认定为「第二批福建省乡村治理示范村镇」；2023年2月，入选「福建省第三批高级版绿盈乡村」名单；2023年10月，入选「2023年福建省金牌旅游村」名单；2025年3月，被认定为「福建省第一批省级乡村振兴示范村」；2025年6月，被认定为「2025年莆田市一村一品专业村」，主导产业为荔枝。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

北大顶墩桥位于顶墩自然村，为三孔两墩石梁桥，南北走向。始建年代不详，明天顺七年（1463年）与清光绪十五年（1889年）两次重建，1961年重修，近年又修。[1]
