林峰社区位于西天尾镇，前身为林峰村，2018年12月改设社区居民委员会。村名经历过改动，1962年定名为「林峰」。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网所载，明代《闽书》记此地古称「北螺村」。因地形如飞凤，有「凤穴」之称，早年有林姓迁入定居，遂谐音称「凤林」。后因与毗邻梧塘镇的枫林村谐音重名，改依背靠紫霄山峰之势，定名「林峰」。[1]

莆田解放后该地先入四区，此后于1952年改隶七区，1954年归十区；1956年组建初级生产合作社，次年转为高级社。1958年隶属涵江人民公社后埔大队，1961年另立枫林生产大队，1962年初因与梧塘的枫林重名而更名为林峰。1966年并入西天尾人民公社，1984年成为乡下的林峰村，其后随乡改镇，成为西天尾镇林峰村。2018年12月起，原林峰村的建制由社区居民委员会取代。[2]

2021年3月，社区被确定为「莆田市第十五届市级文明村镇（社区）」。[1]
