坝头村位于福建省莆田市涵江区大洋乡东北部，东与坂洋村相邻，西与大洋度口接壤，北面靠近琼峰、南岭一带的山庄。[1]

村名取自旧时村民修建的拦水坝。村中有郭氏回族聚居，博雅地名网记该村被认定为福建省民族团结进步模范单位。[1][2]

地名由来[edit]

旧时村民曾在此修建拦水坝，村落沿坝附近建居形成，村名因此而来。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

中华人民共和国成立前，村地属兴化县广业里。1956年设坝头高级社，1958年编入新县人民公社，设坝头生产大队；1961年改属新县公社坝头大队，1965年并入大洋公社，1984年12月改称莆田县大洋乡坝头村。[1]

姓氏宗族[edit]

博雅地名网记村中有郭氏回族，其先祖自唐代由河南固始入闽，后裔辗转迁居仙游、莆田等地，村中郭姓保留有家族门第联。[2]

文化[edit]

2017年3月，坝头村经国家民委认定，列为第二批中国少数民族特色村寨。2021年3月，坝头村获评莆田市第十五届市级文明村镇社区。2024年1月，坝头村获评2023年福建省卫生村。[1]
