大东村位于江口镇东北部，在东方红水库的下游一侧，离324国道约一点八公里，背靠青山，与蒜溪、大瑁山相望。[1][2]

村名取大岭、东山两地的首字。[1]

人口民族[edit]

全村辖2个自然村、5个村民小组，共339户。博雅地名网记总人口1186人，未注统计年份。[2]

经济[edit]

可耕地以水稻、花生为主，园地种龙眼、枇杷等果树，林地多为马尾松等生态公益林。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

1958年起为江口人民公社大东大队；1984年改设大东村委会，属莆田县江口镇；2002年划归涵江区江口镇。[1]

2020年11月，村子获评「2020年度莆田市中级版绿盈乡村」；2021年11月，获评「2021年福建省卫生村」；2024年1月，被命名为「2023年全国示范性老年友好型社区」；2024年2月，列为「第二批福建省乡村振兴示范村镇」创建对象；2024年6月，入选「福建省第四批高级版绿盈乡村」名单；2025年11月，认定为「福建省第二批省级乡村振兴示范村」。[1]
