梧塘镇位于福建省莆田市涵江区西北部，东与江口镇相接，南连白塘镇，西面与荔城区的西天尾镇相邻，北面以尖山寨、加岭和囊山一带的山岭与萩芦镇分界。省道涵永线与五秀线穿镇而过，镇政府驻平和路。镇域属兴化北洋平原，北部则是山区的过渡地带。[1][2][3]

历史沿革[edit]

宋元时期，今镇域属武化乡兴教里；明代归莆田县三区兴教里；清代称兴教里鳌塘境。据博雅地名网的地名由来，此地早先是吴姓聚居的地方，人们开塘垦田，故称吴塘；清代外姓迁入渐多，改取近音字作鳌塘，所辖村落有东牌、福兴社、枫岭、林外、下刘、吴庄等，统称“鳌塘七境”；清末，“鳌”字不便书写，遂借同音的“梧”字，改称梧塘。[3]

新中国成立后，梧塘先后隶属莆田县第十区、第四区，以及涵江公社、梧塘公社和梧塘乡。1985年由乡改镇，当时仍归莆田县；2002年5月起改由涵江区管辖。[1][3]

截至2019年末，梧塘镇户籍人口为38955人。[1]

经济[edit]

镇内有大型国有企业雪津啤酒厂，沁后村等地以鞋革加工为主要产业，全镇工业型村落较多。[3][4][10]

文化[edit]

2019年6月，福建省人民政府把梧塘镇列入「第六批福建省历史文化名镇名村」，镇政府的相关公告也以「福建省历史文化名镇」称之。[3][5]

2021年2月，梧塘镇列入「福建省2018-2020年度省级文明村镇社区」名单。[3]

名胜古迹[edit]

枫林世惠祠位于枫林村梅岺自然村，建于宋代，此后屡经重修。主殿为三开间的抬梁式木构、悬山顶，祠内存有宋绍定五年（1232年）立的“曾公陂”碑。2013年，此祠被列为「福建省文物保护单位（第八批）」。[1][3][6]

九莲岩建筑群位于九峰村，始建于清代，近代有修建，依山而建，占地1868平方米，是莆田市文物保护单位。九峰村内另有九峰庄辉庭宅与峰山小学旧址，均为「莆田市第九批市级文物保护单位」。[7][9]

过山自然村的过山蔡氏大宗祠建于民国时期，2020年12月列为「涵江区第九批文物保护单位」。同村的蔡氏万兴堂宅建于1934年，中西合璧，属「涵江区第八批区级文物保护单位」。过山自然村内还有省三小学交通站旧址。该校1910年创办，即今天的沁后小学。1929年，莆田地下党在校内展开秘密工作；同年秋天，蔡拱北出任校长，此后学校又设立了秘密交通站。[3]

西林村的西林阜成宫与西林武当宫，均为涵江区第九批文物保护单位。[8]

著名人物[edit]

蔡文焕（1910—1947），梧塘镇人，号炳斋。他在1930年投身革命，1932年入党；此后曾在革命互济会中担任莆田临时县总主任，并任莆田中心县总主任。[3]
