蔡厝村位于东海镇镇政府东偏南方向，村口有笏枫公路东海段通过，交通便利。[1]

村民多为蔡姓，村名以姓加「厝」构成。「厝」是闽地对住宅的俗称。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

解放前此地属莆田县灵川里东蔡公社。1991年起改由灵川镇管辖，村名同时改为蔡厝。[1]

1999年11月起隶属东海镇，2002年纳入城厢区东海镇。[1]

文化[edit]

2021年2月，蔡厝村入选「福建省2018—2020年度省级文明村镇社区」名单。2021年11月，蔡厝村获评「2021年福建省卫生村」。[1]
