山坑村位于常太镇西部莒溪一带，是由两个小自然村合并而成的行政村，村名各取两村中的一字。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

清代以前此地属莆田县常太乡的莒溪片。1947年至1949年5月划入第八区的莒溪乡；1952年至1955年属第十四、十五区常太区下的莒溪乡。1960年设山坑生产大队，属常太乡人民公社；1961年改由莒溪公社统辖，1965年复属常太公社，1967年成立山坑生产大队革委会。1984年12月改设山坑村委会，此后隶属莆田县常太镇。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2021年11月，村子获福建省爱卫办命名为「2021年福建省卫生村」；2024年9月，被认定为「2024年莆田市一村一品专业村」，主导产业为枇杷。[1]
