山门村位于常太镇内，村名取自村后之山处在两山之间。[1]

村内的中共莆田山门支部旧址位于新厝，是本村的革命遗迹。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

清代以前此地归莆田县河山乡。解放初隶属第八区，称汀山乡；1956年改归常太高级社，次年划入常枫乡。1958年成为常太人民公社的汀山生产大队；1961年改名山门生产大队，1965年归属常太公社山门大队。1968年间这里设有革命委员会下的山门革命小组，1980年又恢复为山门生产大队。1984年12月设山门村委会，隶常太乡；1992年10月起属莆田县常太镇，2002年以后归莆田市城厢区。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

1926年6月，林凤池还在哲理中学就学，已加入共产党；此后他奉派回乡，利用周末在常太开展工作、发展党员，并在山门村秘密吸收党员。中共莆田山门支部旧址即与这段活动相关。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2022年12月，村子获「2022年福建省卫生村」称号。[1]
