凤凰山街道在福建省莆田市城厢区西南部，1990年10月设立了街道办事处。截至2023年6月，这里有6个社区和3个行政村。街道的名字来自境内的凤凰山，山南麓还有千年古刹广化寺。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

宋元时期，此地分属崇业里、永嘉乡和武化乡。明清两代则归莆田县的一区、二区、三区分管，其下的里乡有南厢、嘉禾里、常太里、仁德里、延兴里和孝义里。[1]

民国时期此地属莆田县一区、延寿里和熙宁乡。新中国成立后，它依次归入城厢镇、城厢区与城厢公社；1963年2月转入城郊公社，1984年8月改隶城厢区城郊乡，直到1990年10月才另设凤凰山街道办事处。[1]

街道内的社区也经历过拆分。1992年，南园从南门居委会中分出，单设南园社区居委会；[6] 1994年6月，原筱塘居民委员会拆为筱塘、月塘、新塘三个社区居民委员会。[7][8]

地理与人口[edit]

2019年末，全街道的常住人口是45119人；其辖境约21.1平方千米。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

南山广化寺的位置在新塘社区的凤凰山南麓。寺院早先叫金仙庵，隋代又改作金仙寺，到北宋初年的太平兴国元年（976年）才以广化为名。它是省级文物保护单位，百度百科则称其为汉族地区的全国重点佛寺。[1][3][4][8]

这座塔坐落于广化寺的东边，南宋乾道元年（1165年）前便已建成。塔为八角形五层石塔，仿木楼阁式，是全国重点文物保护单位。[1][3][5]

龙脊山上的莆田烈士陵园，位于筱塘社区，陵园占地2771平方米，大门上的题字出自郭沫若手迹。同社区的杨持平烈士墓，墓主杨持平（1883—1921年）曾跟随黄兴参加武昌起义。[9]
