历史沿革[edit]
社区的形成可追溯到明代嘉靖二十九年（1550年）：黄氏一支由后墩迁来定居，此地遂有聚落。清朝末期此地属莆田县城郊乡，1958年划入城郊人民公社。[1][2]
2002年，原居委会改制为下磨社区居民委员会，归龙桥街道管辖。[2]
名胜古迹[edit]
石室寺塔位于大象山，始建于宋代，最初为五层石塔，后倒塌，明代重建为方形砖构的楼阁式塔，七层，通高约20米，基座为石构，塔身为砖构。[1]
社区内有下磨宫等古迹。[2]
荣誉[edit]
2021年3月，社区被确定为「莆田市第十五届市级文明村镇（社区）」；2022年12月，社区获评「2022年福建省卫生社区」。[1]
