市头社区位于马巷街道东南部，城乡分类属镇乡结合区。社区名的来历：据称建村之初，风水先生认为房屋若坐东朝西，便可由此向马巷方向连成一条街市，村子因此名为市头。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1987年属马巷镇，1984年改为后滨乡市头村委会，1964年属马巷公社，1961年另立市头大队，归巷南公社管辖，1959年属马巷公社舫阳大队，1950年称坂亭乡，1943年属仁风乡市头保，清代属民安里十一都市头保。[1]

明万历年间的文举人、金华府推官洪日观是本社区人。[1]

荣誉[edit]

市头社区于2022年12月获「福建省爱国卫生运动委员会」命名，列为「2022年福建省卫生社区」。[1]
