园山社区是福建省厦门市湖里区江头街道下辖的社区，西以福厦路为界，东以禾山路为界，北靠园山，南邻乌石浦，辖区总面积约1.8平方千米。[1]

地名由来[edit]

宋代，这一带的山岭称作觉圣院山、朝山与五岭，后改称园山。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

新中国成立前，园山山脚人烟稀疏，尽是荒山野岭；此后这片地逐步开垦为耕地，并陆续办起农场、养猪场、砖瓦厂与农机厂。改革开放以后，三资企业与内联、私营企业陆续在此开办。[1]

园山居委会由江头村分出，设于1998年；2003年，它改为社区居委会。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2009年，社区先后获得「福建省巾帼文明岗」「厦门市文明社区」等荣誉称号。[1]
