村名取自地势：溪流从村落南北中间穿过，先人据此定名溪北。[1]

地名由来[edit]

该处四周环山，地势开阔，旧称魁里；村落又因溪流南北相隔而命名溪北。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

宋代归长东乡新宁里，明代划入南上隅的新宁里，属图1。1910年（清宣统二年）改属东张镇。1943年归里坪乡芦岭保，分为6甲；1950年归第六区道桥乡，1958年转入东张公社道桥大队。[1]

1959年单设溪北大队，1984年撤大队改设村委会，仍隶属东张镇。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2021年11月，溪北村获福建省爱卫办授予「2021年福建省卫生村」称号。[1]

2022年10月，溪北村被福建省农业农村厅认定为「第二批福建省乡村治理示范村镇」。[1]
