平林村在沙埔镇境内。据传其始祖平林公陈举自东瀚一带迁来此地繁衍，后人为纪念他而取名平林。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

宋代此地属崇德乡平南里六十一都，明代属北二隅，清末归崇德乡平南里。民国时属江厦保，新中国成立后改属第四区江厦乡。[1]

1959年设立平林大队；1981年归沙埔公社平林大队，1984年设沙埔乡平林村，1992年乡改镇。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2021年11月，平林村被授予「2021年福建省卫生村」称号。[1]
