北坑村隶属福清市高山镇，村名因村南的大坑而得。[1]

地名由来[edit]

村南边长期受海水冲击，冲出一个大坑。村子建在坑的北侧，因而得名。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

村民的祖先由平潭虎足留迁来。宋代此地属崇德乡平下里孝耶境。[1]

民国时期此地设甲，归山后保管辖，保驻山后自然村，属高山镇。1950年为下楼乡，属第四区。[1]

1958年分为四个生产队，隶属高山公社玉楼大队，大队部设于下楼村。1985年9月，北坑从玉楼析出，另立北坑村委会，属高山镇。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2021年11月，省爱卫办将本村列为「福建省卫生村」。[1]
