东元村在港头镇西南约3公里处，西邻芦华村，北靠后园村。村委会设在同名的自然村内。[1][2]

村委会驻在东元自然村，村名由此而来。[1]

概况[edit]

全村有九个村民小组，博雅地名网所载398户、1512人，耕地365亩，未注年份。村中为革命老区，村民多外出经商、务工或出国劳务。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网，先人从莆田等地辗转迁来，清雍正年间迁居东元。宋时隶崇德乡化北里上都（境名安福），明代改属东隅化北里上都。1910年为龙田镇辖地，1943年归化北乡。解放后1950年编入第七区，1958年改隶龙田公社，1961年后属港头公社。1984年成立村民委员会，隶港头乡，1992年乡改镇时随之。[1]
