赤坑村位于龙田镇西部，下辖3个自然村：赤坑、沙龙溪、毛山。[1]

村名来历：此地东西狭长，丘陵起伏，土为黄土与衰土，水土流失严重，沟壑纵横、寸草难生，一片赤色，因而得名。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

此地先前隶属崇德乡福唐里，境名中和，元代沿用；明代归北一隅福唐里，1910年划入龙田镇。[1]

1943年编为5甲，设赤坑保，隶龙田镇福唐乡；1955年隶龙田区；1959年4月改为赤坑大队；1984年改设赤坑村委会。[1]

人口[edit]

全村263户，总人口2700人，党员71人，有19个村民小组，村民收入主要靠经商和务工。[1]

文化[edit]

2022年12月，村子被确定为「2022年度福州市中级版绿盈乡村」。[1]
