红湖村位于原北厝镇北部。村子东边靠着三十六脚湖，西侧是澳尾村，南面与庄上村相连，北面接岚城乡一带；164县道自北向南穿村而过。[1]
地理环境[edit]
据博雅地名网，三十六脚湖是福建省最大的天然淡水湖，位于红湖村东侧，村庄因此享有「福建省生态村」的称号。[2]
人口民族[edit]
全村总面积约3.8平方千米。村民编为9个组，户数380户，人口1536人；自然村为院厝边、南社垄、湖尾和后楼。[2]
经济[edit]
村内耕地290多亩，以农业为主，主要种植地瓜、花生等作物，外出务工也是村民的主要收入来源之一。[2]
历史沿革[edit]
早年隶属庄上区，民国末归复兴乡，解放初为二区湖西乡的一部分。[1]
1958年公社化之际，湖西大队分出一支，建成庄上大队；1970年，庄上大队再分出，组成红湖大队，1984年，大队改设为村委会。[1]
金井镇自2021年4月接管此地，之前归北厝镇。[1]
