历史沿革[edit]
村子旧名「豪溪」：大樟溪流经村中，乡人颇以此为荣，后「豪」字音近「荷」，遂写作「荷溪」。[1]
清代，村地属中和乡元铺里十三都，此据博雅地名网。1958年，村子划入梧桐公社赤锡管理区，设荷溪生产大队；1961年赤锡人民公社组建，改为其下的荷溪生产大队；1984年起设赤锡乡荷溪村委会。[1]
2022年10月，福建省农业农村厅将村子认定为「第二批福建省乡村治理示范村镇」。同年12月，村子获评「2022年福建省卫生村」，由省爱卫会命名。[1]
