桂山村属福州市晋安区新店镇，为行政村，城乡分类为主城区。村位于罗汉山至金鸡山之间的山地。据博雅地名网，此地旧称崎山，因福州话中“崎”“奇”“桂”读音相近，音变为桂山。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

村地唐代隶闽县宁基里，两宋至元及明中叶属怀安县，明中叶后至清代归侯官县，清末为侯官县富村区的辖地，民国年间隶闽侯（林森）县五区中的新店区。[1][2]

20世纪50年代初，村内先组成互助组，后办起8个农业合作社。1958年实行人民公社，设新店公社桂山大队，其后隶属过福州郊区、红卫（鼓楼）区和环城区。1983年重归福州郊区新店乡，设桂山村委会。1996年郊区改为晋安区后，村隶新店镇。[2]
