海外旅居的村民不少，多数在美国、西班牙和加拿大。村里人的生计靠外出务工经商，也靠瓜果蔬菜种植，以及淡水、滩涂养殖。[1]

2023年12月，荣光村被认定为「福州市2023年市级“一村一品”专业村」，主导产业为大棚蔬菜。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

此地原属赤前保，1950年归闽侯县第二区。1958年改设荣光大队，隶属金沙公社；1984年才称荣光村，1995年11月划入马尾区琅岐镇。[1]
