万侯社区位于福州市台江区白马南路西侧，是苍霞街道下辖的社区，2001年12月成立。社区名称取自明朝开国大将汤和的官名。社区面积0.09平方千米。[1][2][3]

名称由来[edit]

“万侯”取自汤和的官名“万户”和“中山侯”。据清道光年间林枫所撰《榕城考古略》记载，明初汤和率军抵达闽江口的五虎门，此前派去招降的使者已被元兵杀害，汤和因此下令城中“入闽不留一人”。后有神明“拿公”指引，部队由洪武道登岸，攻下南门一带，取得福州，号令随之改为“入城不杀一人”。福州人为纪念汤和，将这一带称作万侯。[4]

历史沿革[edit]

社区设立于2001年12月，仍沿用“万侯”之名。2003年4月，大部分棚屋区改造完毕。[2][4]

2013年底社区整合，原长寿社区的一部分与万侯社区的一部分合并，组成现在的万侯社区，由原万侯、后田、大庙、宫前、河下等居委会的部分整合而成。[4]

社区概况[edit]

社区内设警务室、老人活动室、阅览室和室外健身路径。辖区单位有台江区实验小学，以及省级文物保护单位古田会馆。社区曾在2005年和2006年分别被评为区级与市级绿色社区。[2]
