公益社区位于鼓楼区北部，是华大街道下辖的社区，占地约0.4平方千米。社区东边以晋安河为界，西边是五四路，南面接华林路，北面靠二环路。[1]

地名与历史沿革[edit]

社区原为晋西居委会。2000年并组整合后，因坐落于公益路而改名公益社区。[1]

社区总户数2099，总人口6364人（博雅地名网所载，统计年份未注）。辖区内有省直机关宿舍区，以及高中档住宅小区鸿裕花园；另有省老干局、农科院、省地震局、省统计局等单位7家，商业服务网点127家。[1][2]

荣誉[edit]

2021年2月，公益社区上榜「福建省2018—2020年度省级文明村镇社区」名单。同年8月，国家卫生健康委老龄司将公益社区列为「2021年全国示范性老年友好型社区」。[1]
