历史沿革[edit]
村地在清道光年间隶拆石铺，民国19年（1930年）为七区的岗根乡。新中国成立后，1958年东方红与步竹坪各立一个大队，到1963年才合在一起；之后先并入螺东乡（1983年），再依次改称村委会（1987年）、管理区（1989年）和现在的村民委员会（1998年）。[1]
经济[edit]
耕地1200亩，山地达14000亩；村民以种沙糖桔为主（2000亩），也有两千多亩速生丰产林。境内有钾长石矿。近年调整产业，用生物菌床技术养猪，设有示范基地。[1]2026年1月，被评为「广东省第二批“百千万工程”典型村」。[1]
