1988年成立，起初是友谊街道的一个居委会。2002年9月调整区域，人民居委会和朝霞居委会并成人民社区居委会；2003年3月再作调整，社区从友谊街道划出，转入工农街道。[1]
荣誉[edit]
2019年9月，人民社区列入「2018年广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位」名单。[1]
