地名由来[edit]
村后山的形状像一匹奔马，旧时又在此设驿站，官差到这里换马歇脚，村名由此而来[1]。
历史沿革[edit]
据博雅地名网，最早是饶平的朱姓与福建的程姓迁来定居，分散的住户后来渐渐聚拢。1953年建乡时它并入羊屿乡，1959年成走马埔大队，属隆东乡；1986年设村民委员会，原属隆东镇，2002年隆东并入深澳镇后随之划归[1]。

村的介绍写道，全村216户、868人，耕地仅120多亩，海岸线却近4000米，滩涂宽阔[2]。2023年5月获评「2022年广东省卫生村」，同年12月入选「2023“和美乡村百佳范例”」宣传推介名单[1]。
