历史沿革[edit]
社区得名于草埔小学，又因地处草埔村西面。[1] 旧时的草埔是宝安县布吉镇的生产大队，管着鹤围、清水河、吓围、新屋吓、吓屋、樟輋、独树、吓围新村8个村；1985年并入罗湖区，1992年9月成立，2002年10月随清水河街道新设，由翠竹街道转入，并设草埔西社区居委会。[1]

2022年8月，街道公示了草埔西社区土地整备利益统筹项目的规划草案：实施范围17377.1平方米，留用土地4013.4平方米。[3] 街道2024年的工作总结提到推动草埔西城中村改造，2026年的总结提到研究拆赔方案，推动留用地建设项目年内开工。[4][5]
文化[edit]
社区设有2000平方米的文体广场、三个星光老年之家和社区图书馆。[1] 2022年3月，社区被认定为第一批深圳市绿色（宜居）社区。[1]
