沿革[edit]
社区的源头，是黄花岗街1953年设立的第五居委会；1985年5月街道把它拆为五个，其中一个自1987年起叫东环居委会。[1]
荣誉与社区建设[edit]
东环社区于2019年9月榜上有名，列入广东省2018年度「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位，2021年11月由广州市住建部门评定为2021年度的广州市绿色社区，2024年11月入选2024年度广州市充分就业社区名单。[1]
468号大院旁有条小路，一头接环市东路，一头接东风东路，墙面曾因日晒雨淋而斑驳。社区从2023年起推进墙体美化，2024年7月下旬把这条路变成十几面彩绘墙组成的“东环艺术长廊”，画的是动物园、创意大道、剧院、粤剧院一类地标建筑，也有舞狮等民俗图案，由大学生志愿者上墙绘制；东环路上还画了几面垃圾分类主题的墙绘。[2]
