旗垌村的村名取自村委会所在的一片狭长垌面，此处位于一座名叫旗山的山下。1993年，该村被评划为革命老区。2019年9月，该村上榜「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1][3]

历史沿革[edit]

1958年公社化时设旗垌大队，划入加益公社；1961年改属旗山公社，1963年两社合为扶合公社。[2]

1983年改为旗垌乡，归扶合区管辖；1986年改称旗垌村委会，1992年变为旗垌管理区，1999年才恢复村委会之名。[2]
