鳌头村是加益镇的一个行政村，城乡分类为村庄[1]。村委会驻地在一处形如牛的山岗顶部，原名牛头街，后雅称鳌头街，一直沿用至今，村名由此而来[1]。2019年10月，村入选「2019年广东省卫生村」名录[1]。2023年5月，广东省爱卫会授予村内围寨村等15个自然村「2022年广东省卫生村」称号[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

建国初这里称鳌头乡。1957年，它随郁南县第七区改隶罗定，成为加益区下的鳌头乡。1958年先设鳌头合作社，同年公社成立，改称鳌头生产大队；1961年6月大队并入他处，1974年7月才得以复设。1983年改为鳌头乡，1986年改乡为村民委员会，1989年成为管理区，1999年再度叫作鳌头村委会[2]。
