安全村位于生江镇内，属镇乡结合区。村名「安全」始于1955年改设的安全乡，此后沿用。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

1716年，廖氏始祖进光公迁入，形成村中最早的村落；1860年前后，黄、李两姓族人先后迁来。现有廖、李、黄、黎、邓、郑等姓，廖姓为最大姓。[1][2]

1931年，民国时期的罗定县于第四区内置云安乡；1950年5月，罗定县第六区设立云安乡。1955年，此乡更名为安全乡，划入第九区。1958年公社化后，本地成为黎少公社下的一个生产大队。1961年6月，生江公社成立，该大队分成两个，1974年7月两者重新合为安全大队。1983年，大队改为乡，属生江区管辖；1986年，村民委员会取代乡级建制；1989年改为管理区。[2]

2023年4月，安全村列入「2022年广东省乡村治理示范村」创建单位名单。[1]
