生江镇位于广东省云浮市罗定市的中部，处在罗定红盆的中西部，镇政府所在的生江圩离罗定市区约9公里。镇域东邻素龙街道，东南与罗平镇相连，西南接连州镇，西北与黎少镇相接。镇名原作「崩岗」，后因与泷江（罗定江）的方言读音相近而改为「生江」。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

此地自宋开宝六年（973年）起属泷水县，至明万历四年（1576年）为止；次年改归罗定州，清末未再变动。民国时期，今镇域分属罗定县第一区和第四区。[1][2]

新中国成立后，1950年归罗定县第五区，1953年改属第九区。1956年11月，此地改隶黎少区；公社化后的1958年，它又成为黎少公社的一部分。1961年6月，黎少公社析出部分地域另设生江公社。1983年8月公社改为区，1986年11月区撤销，改设生江镇。[1]

地理环境[edit]

镇域属丘陵地带，有公路直通广海北线。罗定江流经生江镇与罗平镇之间的河段。[1][2][3]

人口[edit]

第七次全国人口普查时，全镇常住人口为24946人，统计时点为2020年11月1日零时。2022年末，全镇户籍人口为41837人。[2]

经济与物产[edit]

工业行业以建材、五金、针织和电力居多。农作物主要有花生、大豆、蚕桑和红薯，水果以龙眼、荔枝为多，其中水囊荔枝是知名特产。[1][2]

名胜古迹[edit]

金银湖国家湿地公园跨生江镇与罗平镇，为国家级湿地公园，总面积1003.19公顷，湿地率61.8%。[3]

镇内罗定市文物保护单位有三处：云桂村的王怨桥、双脉村的引泗水利交通大桥，以及碗窑村的生江窑址。[4][5][6]
