村委驻地位于一条河的出口，那里的河沙泛黄，村名因此而来。[2]
历史沿革[edit]
1953年土改之后，这里设黄沙口乡。1958年2月，乡改为合作社，划归新设的横岗乡；同年9月转为公社体制，设黄沙口大队，属黎少公社。1961年6月，原大队一分为二，分出黄沙口和黄沙两个生产大队；1974年7月两者重新合为黄沙大队。1983年复设黄沙口乡，归黎少区；1986年改设村委会，1989年改为管理区，1998年9月撤销管理区，恢复村委会名称。[1]
文化[edit]
2019年9月，村子上榜「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
