望天村位于罗定市罗平镇，村名因村委会辖内原有一座望天庙而得。清代此地称望天岗村，隶属罗定州四都建水乡。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

清代设望天岗村，隶属罗定州四都建水乡。

清末至民国，村地归罗定县第五区罗平团、第四区管辖，1942年起归第二区罗平乡。1950年5月起改隶第四区东北（平围）乡，1958年并入罗平合作社。同年9月起，村地划入东风公社的一个大队，1961年从中分出，另设望天大队，归罗平公社。[2]

1983年撤大队改设望天乡，1986年复为村民委员会，1989年改为管理区，1993年获评革命老区，1998年又恢复为村民委员会，至今未变。[2]
