太北村是太平镇的行政村。村名的来历是村委会设在太平圩的北面。村庄建于1680年，当时隶属罗定州二都顺仁乡。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

1910年至1931年间，村地分散于罗定县第三区太平团辖下的几个堡。1937年，此处改设太北乡，归第三区管辖；1941年9月起，改归第三区的太平乡，直至1950年。[2]

新中国成立后，1950年5月复设太北乡，划入罗定县第一区。1958年，村地先为太北合作社，同年秋改称太北营，归罗镜公社。次年年底成为太北大队，仍属罗镜公社；1961年6月，划入新成立的太平公社。1983年8月改设太北乡，1986年11月改设太北村民委员会，1998年9月重设村委会，沿用至今。[2]

文化[edit]

2019年10月，太北村被收录进2019年广东省卫生村名录。2023年5月，太北村下属17个自然村获广东省爱卫会颁授「2022年广东省卫生村」称号。[1]

2022年1月，村庄被广东省乡村振兴局列为2021年度乡村治理示范村的创建对象。同年10月，太北村又被评为全国示范性老年友好型社区，称号为2022年度。[1]
