太西村是太平镇的行政村。村名的来历是村委会设在太平圩的西面。约于明弘治十八年（1505年）落户建村，当时隶属泷水县二都。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

清代村地属罗定州二都顺仁乡。宣统二年后的1910年至1937年间，村地归第三区太平团管辖；1937年9月，此处成为太西乡。1941年9月起至1949年，乡改为太西保，仍属第三区的太平乡。[2]

1951年5月重设太西乡，属罗定县第一区。1958年，此地先办太西合作社，后改设太西营，归罗镜公社；1959年年底改为太西生产大队。1961年6月，改归太平公社。1983年8月复为太西乡，1986年11月改设太西村民委员会，1998年9月重设村委会，沿用至今。[2]
