太东村是太平镇的行政村。明万历三年（1575年）前后始建村，当时隶属泷水县二都。据载，村名得自村委会成立时所设的太东片村。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

陈氏始祖护法公于1575年落户，形成村中最早的村落；1648年，苏氏始祖长济公也迁来落户。[2]

清末宣统二年至民国20年（1910年至1931年），村地划归罗定县第三区太平团，村内设大塘堡，下辖9个自然村。1937年至1941年设太东乡，1941年后改为太东保，隶属第三区太平乡。[2]

1961年，设太东大队，归太平公社管辖；1974年大队重新调整。1983年改设太东乡，1986年11月改设太东村民委员会，1989年设管理区，1998年9月重设太东村委会，沿用至今。[2]

文化[edit]

2019年9月，太东村列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
