地名由来[edit]
1974年7月设横桥生产大队，取相邻两村名各一字组成“横桥”，此名经批准后沿用至今。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
约清康熙五十五年（1716年）始建村，属罗定州三都镇南乡。1958年后属连州公社，1961年6月起隶属新榕公社。1974年7月从原村分出，设立横桥大队。1983年8月改为横桥乡，归新榕区管辖；1986年11月乡制撤销，改为横桥村民委员会，当时属罗定县新榕镇。[2]
姓氏宗族[edit]
梁氏始祖横才、成才兄弟于1716年自素龙一带迁入落户，形成本村最早的村落。陈氏始祖朝中于1726年自太平一带迁入。村中现有梁、陈、区、李等多个姓氏，梁姓为大姓。[2]
名胜古迹[edit]
横桥岩画位于东二队村后山。石面阴刻，纹样由圆形、方形和弧线组成；图中太阳、山峰及一个“炎”字可以辨认，其余无法释读，年代与族属也未能确定。1983年发现，1994年6月8日公布为「罗定市第二批文物保护单位」。[3]

2019年9月，横桥村列入「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位」名单。[1]
