南区社区因位于罗城旧城南部而得名[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

此地在1953年民主建政之初名为自由街。1971年起改为南区居委会，1974年才设大队并归罗城公社管辖，1983年改为居委会[1]。1989年改为管理区，1993年起归罗定市罗城街道；1998年，居委会名称得以恢复，2002年定名为社区居民委员会[1]。
